THE CONFERENCE AND SHOW
The Conference and show has been postponed due to COVID-19. It will now be held from 31 August to 4 September 2022. Please visit this site regularly to be kept up to date.
This Conference - Show experience will be very much a coming together of the Australian orchid community - a significant Australian orchid event.
Overseas participants from the likes of New Zealand, some South-east Asian countries and elsewhere are expected. They will attend as registrants, presenters, judges and vendors. A warm welcome awaits all AOCC 2022 participants.
AOCC 2022 is being staged as a joint venture by South-east Queensland orchid societies at the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre in Crestmead, Queensland (just south of the City of Brisbane's boundary). All of the conference’s activities, including the Conference & Presentation Dinner, will take place at the Centre.
Tours to South-east Queensland orchid rich locations will be an option provided to view some of the Australia’s 1400 plus orchid species.
The Conference’s keynote speaker will be Dr André Schuiteman, who is in charge of Kew’s Orchid Herbarium. Dr André, Research Leader in the Asia Team of Kew’s Identification and Naming Department, has had a lifelong fascination with plants, in particular orchids.
The orchid show will include spectacular orchid & foliage displays and benched orchids for the enjoyment of all orchid show visitors.
With such great weather in South-east Queensland in early September, combining a holiday in the region with the AOCC 2022 event should be seriously considered.
Full Refund Should COVID-19 Prevent Attendance
Should travel restrictions or event postponement because of COVID-19 mean that registrants are unable to attend AOCC 2022, their registration fees and other associated payments will be refunded in full.
This advice is just to alleviate any concerns intending AOCC 2022 registrants and participants might be having regarding making payments. It is stressed though that there are presently no plans for any postponement of the coming AOC Conference & Show (AOCC 2022) and that any such decision would be one made by the Australian Orchid Council Inc. Board of Management.
The AOCC 2022 Planning Committee continues to plan and work towards staging a top event in August/September 2022.
Further enquiries may be made via the AOCC 2022’s email address ([email protected]) or by contacting AOCC 2022 Planning Committee members by phone or email. Contact details are on the event’s website contact page (https://www.aocc2021.org/planning-committee).
